Sauvignon Blanc dry white wine, by Mega Spileo Winery. The grapes grow in an organic mountainous vineyard at 820-880m altitude in Kalavryta overlooking the Vouraikos Gorge, marking the wine as PGI Achaia.
The grapes are harvested mid September and the fermentation is done with selected yeasts, in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures. The wine ages for 3 weeks with its wine leaves.
Sauvignon Blanc PGI by Mega Spileo has a light yellow colour with green hues. On the nose it has intense aromas of exotic fruits such as guava and passion fruits with notes of asparagus. On the palate, a pronounced acidity and intense fruity after-taste.
Ideally served with grilled fish, ceviche, shellfish, pasta with shrimp or white sauces, appetisers and green salads.

Mega Spileo means Large Cave, and it took its name from its location near Kalavryta in Peloponnese, where there is a large cave and a Monastery, the second oldest continuously occupied religious place in the world. The vineyard belonged to the Monastery, where the monks making wine since the 15th century until it was completely abandoned in the beginning of the 20th century when the current owners took over and revitalised this historic vineyard.
